Pierre GRÉHAL has founded the “Etablissements Pierre GRÉHAL ” metal cutting and stamping company since 1937. He invented the first nibbler shears in the early 50’ under the name EDMA. The name of the tool has become the name of the brand and company.
In the 80’, the first son in Law of Mr GRÉHAL, Mr Roger MALAGNOUX, has also invented several patented construction tools such as the stud crimping tools, the pipe crimping tool, the expansion tools for metal anchors, the wire net fencing staplers and some other specific tools for special applications.
In the middle of the 90’, the second son in Law of Mr GRÉHAL, Mr Michel MARCON, has developed the sales of EDMA TOOLS directly to building material merchants for professional contractors.
Today, the EDMA company is leader in the European market with some specific construction tools for Drywall installations, Masonry, Roofing, E.T.I.C.S., laminate flooring and wood decking installations as well as wire net fencing and gabion installations. The EDMA tools are distributed in more than 60 countries throughout the world.

Creation of the private company Pierre GREHAL.
1950
Introduction of the famous EDMA® nibbler shears available in 6 specific models.
1953
EDMA® becomes a registered trade mark.
1984
Roger MALAGNOUX, Mr Pierre GREHAL’s son-in-law, takes the leadership of the firm. He owns many French and international patents.
1993
“Silver Key” award for the export activity, by OUTILEX, former export association of SIO (Industry and Tool manufacture Syndicate).
1994
“Mercury” award for the export activity, by the Chamber of Commerce of Yvelines-Val d’Oise.
1995
Michel MARCON, Mr Pierre GREHAL’s last son-in-law, managing director since 1977, takes the leadership of the company.
1996
INPI award for regional innovation at QUOJEM trade fair for a unique rack expension tool : ULTRA FIX.
2002
New environmently-friendly packaging for the tools : “PACK ECO”. Translated into 9 languages, with 6 colors referring to each range of tools, and the use of pictograms.
Ets P. GREHAL is awarded TÜV ISO 9002 quality certificate.
2004
Certification TÜV ISO 9001 (vs 2000).
DMA® becomes an international trade mark.
Patent registration for the GT handles (EDMA design, 2 colors and 2 materials).
2005
The EDMA® brand becomes EDMA SAS a subsidiary of Pierre Grehal.
2006
Creation of EDMA S.A.S., subsidiary of Pierre GREHAL company, located on a 3.300 m² site in St Raphaël (83 – FRANCE).
EDMA S.A.S. new structure is certified TÜV ISO 9001 (vs 2000).
2007
INPI award for innovation, Area Ile de France.
Renewal of our Quality TÜV certification ISO 9001 (vs 2000).
Michel MARCON, president of the group, is elected chairman of the French Tool Manufacturing Industry Association (S.I.O.), which is associated with the Mechanic Industry Federation (F.I.M.).)
2010
Creation of naming « SUPERPROSERIE » for professional builders.
Creation of new ergonomic handle.
2012
75 years of activity.
Transfer of our plant from St-Brice (95) to Baillet en France (95). New plant of 4.200 m² located in an industrial park.
2013
Sébastien NEGRE, financial director, succeeds Michel MARCON for the group management.
